Excursion to Petra

At the indicated time we will pick you up from your hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh to begin this excursion. Are you ready? After a bus ride of approximately two hours, we will arrive at the port of Nuweibaa, in the Egyptian territory of the Sinai Peninsula. There we will board the ferry to Aqaba. We will arrive at this Jordanian port after approximately an hour of sailing. In Aqaba, we will take a bus that will take us to Petra after a journey of about two hours. Once there, we will visit the archaeological site of Petra to see the ancient capital of the Nabataeans. In this historic complex declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, we will see the famous façade of the monastery and the El Tesoro building, popularized by the filming of the Indiana Jones movie The Last Crusade. We will also visit the remains of the amphitheater and the Corinthian tomb, authentic jewels of Jordanian archaeology. We will learn about the importance of Petra for the Nabataeans, the Romans and the Arabs throughout history through the incredible stories that this site holds. After the visit to the monumental complex, we will regain our strength with an open buffet lunch in the city of Petra. After lunch, we will return by bus to the port of Aqaba. From there we will go by ferry to the Egyptian town of Nuweibaa, on the Sinai Peninsula. At this last point we will take a new bus that will take us back to Sharm el-Sheikh, where arrival at your hotel is scheduled 21 hours after pickup.
